Witnessed just tonight, on my way home from picking up ODST. I was almost home and there are some train tracks that cross the road. Now this is nothing unusual of course, as towns go, and I certainly wouldn’t have paid them any mind except the lady driving in front of me stopped at them.
Now, it is sensible to stop for crossings even when the gates aren’t down. You never know what’s happening, what’s coming. But the lady didn’t keep going.
So I says to myself, okay, perhaps there are too many cars between the other side of the tracks and the stop sign beyond. We will wait for them to come to complete stops and then be on their way.
Nothing.
So I says ‘I’m a patient guy. I’ll wait this out.’
Nothing. Car running. Driver’s head visible from behind. No shaking or noise or anything unusual except for the lack of locomotion. …not the train, though. The lack of movement.
Anyway, it’s not a long wait but eventually a car comes up behind me. So they wait a moment and then, confused themselves, flash their lights to indicate a query. I myself have no clue and continue waiting. The car ahead does not budge. There has been ample time for even the most distracted of drivers to move on ahead. The car in front of me is just stopped. Parked, even, perhaps.
The person behind me begins to become vaguely impatient so, having ample room, I inch around to the right of the stopped car and see nothing is ahead and likewise there is no train in sight. Uncertain, I pass and glance over to see the driver looking back at me, seemingly confused as to my illegal passage of her. Plenty confused myself, I moved on, stopped at the sign, turned, and carried on home.
I did wonder for a moment as she seemed to immediately start after me. I thought that would just have been exceedingly more strange and only wondered for a moment before our paths diverged and whoever had continued on behind me was gone. The rest of the drive home was without event.
I checked to see if I’d managed to have been killed – it doesn’t appear so, so I doubt there is any sixth sense stuff going on. Just a strange moment in time.
